Remo shocks with an early departure
It was yet another Saturday and we caught up with the contestants in a very sombre mood. After the elimination of some deserving talents like Bhavya and Prasenjit, it was time for someone from the Top 5 to say goodbye. No one wanted to think who that person would be and each one set out for the studio praying it wouldn’t be them.
Chang lightens the mood
The hosts decided that it was high time that the tension was lessened on a Results night. So this time they said they would not announce the bottom two—instead, they would merely announce who made it to the Top 4.
Then Chang came up with yet another tactic to alleviate the tension—some music. So he got together with the Top 5 to sing Rubaroo. It was the last time the Top 5 were performing as a group and each one treasured the moments.
Who will miss whom the most?
It was the girls turn to answer first—what would they miss the most about Rajdeep if he were eliminated. According to Sourabhee, she was the one Rajdeep pestered the most and she said she would miss his teasing. Torsha, on the other hand, would miss his curiosity. She claimed the ‘smiling wonder of Indian Idol, could never resist bombarding someone with questions if they piqued his curiosity. Like the time someone wanted tablets for an upset stomach—Rajdeep wanted to know who the tablet was for and just would not take an ‘I don’t know’ for an answer.
Remo brought a smile to everyone’s face when he said that if Kapil were to be voted out, he would miss everything about his bhaiyya—baal se leke nakhhon tak. Kapil reciprocated saying that if he had to choose between Sourabhee and Remo as his partner in the Top 4, he would choose Remo because he loved him so much.
The Top 4
This time the results were announced with a little twist. Instead of Hussain and Chang taking the onus on themselves, the judges were given a chance to announce the names. Sonali opened the envelope placed before her and announced that Kapil was the first entrant into the Top 4.
But since the future was so uncertain and no one knew if Remo would join his bhaiyya in the safe zone, the hosts decided to get ‘Mr Handsome and Mr Cute’ to sing a song for everyone. The two immediately agreed and had the audience on their feet with the song Yeh dosti.
Next it was Kailash’s turn to announce that Rajdeep was in the Top 4. This made Torsha happy and sad—she said tearfully that though she was thrilled to see her friend safe, she was now 95 per cent certain that she would be eliminated. Bu wait Torsha, if there is one thing predictable about the future, it is that it is unpredictable.
Judges’ choice
The judges were asked whom they would like to see in the Top 4 from among Torsha, Sourabhee and Remo. While the men named Sourabhee, Sonali took Torsha’s name. So who would make it? Annu opened his envelop and announced that the janta had sided with him and that Sourabhee was through into the Top 4.
And then Javedji had the most surprising and unexpected news to announce—his envelope pronounced Torsha safe. This meant that Remo, the chota don from Nagaland, was out of the competition.
Mature for his age
Torsha was in a state of shock that Remo was out. “Along with Sourabhee, I believe that Remo is a complete package, too,” she said. “Everyone loves him so much and he was improving so much. I can’t believe he is out.” But then that’s how the cookie crumbles. No one can predict the future or the janta.
However, Remo took the news with courage and a smile on his face. He said that the janta had made the right choice because whom they chose as the Top 4 were more deserving and talented singers than him. He then sang Agad bam so beautifully that Kailash felt compelled to come on stage and sing with him—a first on Indian Idol. We wish you all the best Remo, and we will miss you. |
